About This Site

The dive is named after the ship found sunken at this location. The Gran Roque is a tugboat sunk by Cesar Navas in collaboration with the Venezuelan Navy in 2003. It was the "first" ship voluntarily sunk to create a coral reef with the consent of the Puerto Cabello Captaincy. Shaped charges were used to sink the Gran Roque to minimize damage to the nearby reef.
