Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park offers amazing vistas both above and under the water! Apgar beach is a gently sloping cobble beach with multicolored stones. Once in the water the slope is gentle until you are almost 50 yards offshore where the slope steepens and quickly drops to over 400 feet. During August and September surface temps can be 65-68 degrees Fahrenheit, but dropping below the thermocline can expose you to temperatures of about 25-30 degrees cooler in a matter of inches! …
