About 7 mile off Key west is the Cayman, was originally build in 1936 as a mine layer for the U.S. army she had a long and varied career before being prepared for use as an artificial reef in the 80’s. As she has been down for about 40 years the cayman is abundant with marine life, stingrays lay on the deck, grouper swim around the rudder, and arrow crabs climb around searching for food.
