We spent four wonderful days at Yenatar Resort in Raja Ampat and truly loved our stay. We were lucky with the weather, which made the experience even more special. The bungalows are beautifully located right on the beach, overlooking a stunning lagoon. Waking up and seeing the ocean directly from the bed was simply magical. Each bungalow also has a lovely private terrace, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the incredible surroundings. The house reef is fantastic for snorkeling. We saw turtles, many colorful reef fish, and especially a huge variety of fish around the jetty. It’s an amazing place to explore right in front of the resort. We also appreciated that SUP boards are available for free, which is a great way to enjoy the lagoon. During our stay we also did a birdwatching tour and diving. The resort is very well located for many of the famous dive sites in the area, which makes it a great base for exploring Raja Ampat underwater. A special thanks to our dive guide Vandi, who was incredibly friendly and helped make the dives exactly how we wished. In general, all the staff were extremely kind and welcoming, which made the whole stay feel very relaxed and personal. It’s also worth mentioning that Raja Ampat in general is quite expensive due to its remoteness. Considering that, we felt the price-performance was fair for the region. Yenatar is not a luxury five-star resort, but rather a beautiful, place with stunning bungalows and a relaxed, almost family-like atmosphere, which is very typical for Raja Ampat. The food was good and fresh, not extraordinary – but that is simply the nature of staying in such a remote paradise. We had a great time here and hope to come back again one day. A truly beautiful place in Raja Ampat

We have nothing but good things to say about Yenatar. If you’re looking for the ultimate island getaway, this is it. • The Food: A total standout! We were treated to traditional Indonesian dishes that were always incredibly fresh and delicious. Every meal was a highlight of our day. • The Service: The staff are world-class. They were super helpful, accommodating, and went out of their way to make our stay seamless. • The Stay: The accommodation blew us away. It is way above standard and truly on par with a world-class 5-star resort. Luxury, culture, and kindness all in one place. Highly recommended!

Yenatar is paradise. I’ve never found a place that’s so peaceful, joyful, full of activities, yet still classy and modest. And I don’t say that lightly — I’ve been to many great resorts in New England, California, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and the coast of Africa. My friend and I found Yenatar while looking for a place to stay during a diving week in Raja Ampat. The lodging options here don’t have much of a middle ground: it’s either 4+ star resorts, homestays that are essentially minimalist hostels with shared bathrooms, or a liveaboard. Yenatar stood out immediately — true resort quality at a price that still felt somewhat reasonable. The resort is stunning. There are only four bungalows (eight split units), lined up on soft white sand facing the reef. The wooden bungalows, outdoor showers, gardens, and details all feel thoughtfully built with love and quality. Tommy (the owner) even shared that they built this place for families, and they intentionally keep units empty when possible to reduce noise and preserve the peaceful atmosphere. There’s a coral garden right outside the resort and schools of fish around the jetty. I spent hours snorkeling right in front of the property. On our last day, we even saw a pod of pilot whales passing by. Food, fruit, and snacks are all included. I never saw the same dish twice during our week. The chef did an amazing job bringing Indonesian flavors with local herbs, while still keeping options for international palates. My travel buddy is one of the pickiest eaters in the world, and he always found something to enjoy. The diving operation was outstanding. I’ve done 30+ dives with PADI shops across four continents, and I’ve never seen such well-maintained equipment or such attentive staff. The instructor Matt is a meticulous planner and works seamlessly with the local guide Vandi, who seems to know everything about the reef and tides. They briefed us every night at dinner, balanced our comfort level with conditions, and gradually ramped up dive difficulty to keep everything safe. Thanks to their planning, we saw everything you could hope for: manta rays, blacktip/whitetip/grey reef sharks, wobbegongs, ghost pipefish, crocodile fish, turtles, nudibranchs, and more. Most dive sites were only a 10–20 minute boat ride away. Gam Island is also perfectly located — not as crowded or overly hyped as Kri or Mansuar, but with the same convenient access. It truly feels like a hidden gem. The staff made the experience even better. Everyone was warm, thoughtful, and genuinely excited to help us see the best of Raja Ampat. The vibe among guests was also wonderful: low-key, friendly, and relaxed. And best of all — no drunk party crowd. We also loved the non-diving activities: Piaynemo’s panoramic karst island views, waking up early to see birds of paradise, and snorkeling with giant mantas gliding past us like school buses. I’m truly grateful for my experience at Yenatar. Part of me hopes it always stays exactly the way it is: quiet, pristine, and a little off the beaten path. I can’t wait to return.
