Waiwo Dive Resort

What a wonderful part of the world. The dive shop - Dive into Raja Ampat (DIRA) - is integrated into the grounds of Waiwo. It is managed by Sonly, who did a great job in scheduling us to see the best parts of Central Raja Ampat. He also advised me on how to spot different wildlife around the resort. DIRA operates the best day boats I saw in my 9 days of diving. On board, the staff is attentive, fun to be around, and structured when they need to be. Current checks before each dive and not afraid to change locations if necessary (occurred only on 2 of my 27 dives there). When we did encounter a strong current, it was never a surprise as it was mentioned in the dive briefings, which were thorough. Apart from 1 dive with a 3:1 guest-to-guide ratio, the ratio was 2:1, often 1:1. Underwater, the guides were attentive without being overbearing, adapting to each individual group's preferences. 5/5 stars for all the boat staff, especially the guides. I would like to acknowledge Theo for being a fantastic guide who went above and beyond in many ways. If there is any opportunity for a bonus, wage increase, and/or promotion, he deserves it. The resort is comfortable with a spacious, manicured jungle aesthetic. 24/7 electricity. AC worked without fail, keeping my room cool the entire trip. I quite enjoyed the food, which was a mix of Western, Indonesia, and Papuan cuisines.The dining patio had a breezy, tranquil ambiance, and the staff were great, remembering and accommodating food intolerances. Highly recommended. 10/10.

Stayed 4 nights in seaview room and dived with the co-located Dive with Raja Ampat. Great value for money. The room was very nice and clean. The food was wonderful. The chef was very accomodating of food preferences and allergies. Service from the staff was great!

What else would you need that these guys don’t provide. The food, accommodation is all great. What is truly outstanding is the service, it’s beyond. If you need special dietary cover ( eg one of our group is coeliac) everything has been covered, is exceptional and the chef is on it. It’s just great. Attached is Dive into raja Ampat, the resort and dive centre are two separate businesses but joined at the hip. The diving service is ‘princess’ in the extreme, how dare you wash your own mask! They also have better boats than most. The guides and boat staff are super. This place should absolutely be on your shortlist.
