Thresher Shark Divers

Professional, friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. With Toni at the helm we knew that we were in safe hands. Loved my experience fun diving with them and being in close quarters with thresher sharks and the vast coral macrolife in Malapascua. Good gear, solid boats, great dive masters (thank you Wilbert and Marwin) and boat crew who treat you like family and invite you to a game of chikicha during your surface interval. When we needed a custom cake the TSD team went all out to organise it for us.

We, father and son, learned about TSD through the resort where we were staying. We could not have been luckier. We went out on the early, early morning dive (get together at 4:30AM :-) to see the Thresher Sharks. We saw at least 15 of them, often 2 or 3 at the same time. Majestic sharks that we had not seen before. We did two dives in the early morning, got back to the dive center around 10:30 and headed out for two more dives that afternoon (leaving 11:45). The diving gear is in excellent condition. The boat ditto. A special mention for the green tank of Oxygen that this dive center always brings on the boat. Not a requirement but an excellent safety that I had not seen before (>165 dives). Special shout out to our dive masters Tata and Nick who accompanied us on the (4 + 1) dives. Also a special mention to dive masters in training Maryanne and Joey, and dive master Rex - with whom we had a lovely dinner on the island. Finally our thanks to owner Leon for advising us what to do / where to go when the boats could not sail because of coast guard restrictions.

What an amazing experience I had. I did my open water and advanced open water certification here. My dive instructor was Carlo. He’s one of the best teachers that I ever had. He’s patient, calm and relaxed. He explained the theory very well and made sure that you understood it before moving on to the next subject. He gives you a lot of advice to help you master the skills that you need. An aspect that I liked is that his briefings before the dives were focused on clarity and safety. During his debriefings, he keeps you sharp by asking you to analyze what you did during the dive. It helped me understand what I can adjust for my next one to make it better. That increased myself confidence in my diving skills. His personality (always smiling and happy) and attitude (he’s very cheerful and genuinely wants you to succeed) make you feel safe and not to give up when you do your class. He makes the classes more enjoyable. If you’re thinking about taking diving class at this centre, I recommend you Carlo at 110%. Thank you again Carlo for making me love scuba diving!
