Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort

I definitely don't recommend this place. I've been there for 5 days on my honeymoon in July 23. The infrastructure is low quality and needs refurbishing, it was packed with noisy and misbehaving people, the food was horrible, and the staff was too young and untrained. The dives are ok, but Sipadan is 40 minutes away, back and forth, by boat. The video shows people jumping to the water from the stairs and near the bungalows, but they expressly forbid swimming everywhere around the resort apart from a small area near the diving centre, which was packed with kids jumping and people screaming. The whole experience was a 2,5 out of 5, fortunately we travelled other places for the rest of our honeymoon.

Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort was truly one of the most unforgettable travel experiences of my life. If you love the ocean, nature, and marine life, this place is an absolute dream come true. Everything about the resort — from the location to the scenery to the water activities — feels like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The moment you arrive, you’ll be amazed by how beautiful Kapalai is. The waters are unbelievably clear, with stunning shades of blue and turquoise that you usually only see in photos. The resort sits on stilts above the sea, and the whole environment feels peaceful, private, and close to nature. Waking up to the sound of the ocean and seeing the sunrise over the water is something I will never forget. What made this trip extra special for me is that I managed to snorkel and dive for the first time here. It was such a memorable and exciting experience! I was a bit nervous at the beginning, but the team guided me well and made me feel safe and confident. Snorkeling in Kapalai was already amazing — the visibility is so clear that you can see colourful fish, coral, and marine life easily, even near the resort area. It felt like entering a totally different world under the sea. And the diving experience… wow. It was truly breathtaking. For a first-timer, this was the perfect place because the water is calm, crystal clear, and filled with marine life. I felt so excited and amazed seeing the underwater scenery up close — it’s something you cannot describe fully with words. It’s one of those experiences that stays with you forever. The resort itself is also very comfortable and well managed. The rooms are clean, cosy, and relaxing, and the overall atmosphere is calm and peaceful — perfect for a full getaway from busy city life. The staff are friendly, professional, and helpful, and they really make you feel taken care of. Meals were enjoyable as well, and it’s nice to dine while enjoying the beautiful sea view around you. Overall, Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort is a place I would highly recommend to anyone. Even if you’ve never snorkeled or dived before (like me), this is the perfect location to try — it’s safe, exciting, and absolutely unforgettable. The clear waters, stunning marine life, and peaceful environment make it a must-visit. Definitely one of the best and most memorable trips I’ve ever had, and I would love to come back again!
