We had a fantastic experience with Scubatony in Cozumel—this was a Discovery Dive, and it was perfect for beginners. We got really lucky and it ended up being just my husband and me on their small boat, so the whole experience felt relaxed and personal. It was a two-tank trip: the first dive covered beginner skills (mask clearing, regulator recovery, basic breathing) in a shallower area with pretty coral, and the second dive took us deeper (around 40 feet) to explore more reef scenery. We spotted a baby shark and a few king crabs. The hotel/port pickup was super convenient, and boat diving was so much easier than shore entries (we’ve done that in Hawaii and it was exhausting). Our instructor and captain were wonderful, and the Mexican fruit with chili on the boat was such a fun bonus—something I’d been wanting to try! Two small suggestions, especially for beginners: for underwater photos, it’s hard to know whether you want a photo package if you’ve never seen yourself diving. It would be awesome if guests could preview a couple of shots first (or even get 1–2 complimentary photos) and then decide—my snorkeling tour did that, and once we saw how good the photos were, we happily bought the full package. Also, communication was mostly via email, which is fine day-to-day, but when Cozumel’s port closures/weather might affect schedules, the group email with multiple pickup locations and time slots can be a lot to process—especially when traveling in a new country and juggling multiple tours. A WhatsApp call for 5 min would be more helpful to sort out the scheduling. Overall, we had an amazing time and would absolutely recommend Scubatony for a beginner-friendly, small-boat Discovery Dive in Cozumel.

We had 3 family dives with Scuba Tony this week. Our first dive was a refresher (we had not been diving in almost a year), and then we did 2 additional half day dives. Our guides were Cris, Israel, and Renata. They were wonderful. We are fairly new to scuba and our 14 and 12 year old children were joining us. As a parent, this can be quite overwhelming, but the guides expertise, professionalism, and care made this the most enjoyable dive experience of our lives! The visibility was outstanding and the biodiversity was like nothing we have seen before. I highly, HIGHLY recommend Scuba Tony for your scuba needs while visiting Cozumel.

My wife and I just kicked off our 2026 dive season with ScubaTony, and once again, they exceeded expectations. We first dived with them in May 2025 and loved it so much we had to come back for a weekend getaway. A few reasons why they are our go-to: Expert Guides: The dive masters have incredible eyes underwater. They point out all the "small stuff" and special creatures you might normally miss. The Experience: Small group sizes make a huge difference, and the captains are absolute pros. Surface Intervals: The food they provide between dives is always fresh and delicious—a real highlight! Night Dives: If you’re looking for a thrill, their night dives are exceptionally exciting. Every single dive was exceptional. If you want a professional, intimate, and fun diving experience, this is it. We already can’t wait to come back again!
