I cannot praise SJ Penida enough. They accommodated me after I had to leave Komodo due to sailing prohibitions and welcomed me with open arms. Thanks a lot to Amelia for organising my diving at the last minute. We had three days of excellent diving and saw a variety of fish including mantas and octopi. We also had a nice variety of dived as well from drift dives to more relaxed diving on the north coast reef. The boats are in good condition and the gear is well maintained. Only small area for improvement would be that the mouthpieces they use are perhaps too soft - it requires you to clench your jaw to prevent it from inadvertently escaping your mouth underwater. Big shout out to Marie and the boat crew. Marie was an attentive, safe diving instructor and excellent company on the dives and on the boat. The boat crew were very kind at helping me into my gear and setting it up for me on what could sometimes be a rocking boat.

+ boutique dive camp with spaceous beds, minimalistic tasteful decor. room with 5l drinking water tank, umbrella. 3 choices for breakfast (eggs+toast, banana pancakes, or eastern style) plus fruit. diving from small speedboat (lunchbox needs more variety, no toilet) - no hand towel (but big one and a beach towel), no fridge, no cattle, no tv. no blackout curtains. wifi often did not work

From the moment we walked into Scuba Junkie, it felt like home. Amelia and Hanny at the front desk went above and beyond to make us feel welcome by not only helping us get organised for our dives but even inviting us to join their Thursday night Zumba class. Their warmth and energy made the place feel so homely. We spent three days diving with the team and couldn’t have asked for better guides. Our first day was with Rein, whose boat sing-alongs kept the whole group smiling; the second with Tina, whose awareness and protective attitude towards the ocean was truly inspiring; and the last with Jenly, who was not only friendly and professional but also fantastic at spotting marine life out in the blue. Each of them brought their own personality and passion to the experience, and all shared a genuine respect for the ocean. Scuba Junkie Nusa Penida is far more than just a dive company, it’s a welcoming community of passionate, kind people who make you feel part of the family. We’ll definitely be back.
