Scuba Coiba My husband and I received our advanced open water and nitrox certifications from …
Cynthia did a great job! We have seen soooo many different fishes during our three dives around Coiba, including sharks, turtles, lobster and giant fish schools. We felt safe and the equipment was in good condition
We booked the Ocean2Ocean package offered by Scuba Coiba, which takes you through Bocas del Toro, Boquete, and Santa Catalina, with diving included in both Bocas and Santa Catalina. Herbie, the owner of Scuba Coiba, couldn’t have made our trip booking any simpler. He arranged everything and customized the trip for us to add extra days in each location. For it being our first visit to Panama, this was a perfect option for us. The hotel and transport choices were very good (Bambuda is one of the top hotel choices in each location, which is the default package option for each location). Herbie also helped us arrange our travel onward from Santa Catalina and just always made sure we were taken care of. As far as diving with Scuba Coiba, we really feel like we struck gold. Both of our guides, Cynthia and Luis, are the best guides we’ve ever had. They are extremely knowledgeable of the area and worked hard to make sure everyone got tot to see the most possible underwater while deftly navigating through the different currents Coiba is known for. I always felt safe and that we got the most out of each dive site. Their boat crew was helpful and very good at fixing any gear issues that arose. The tank air was perfect, too, which is unfortunately not always a given with all dive operators. We used rental gear and it was in good condition. If you’re wondering if diving in Santa Catalina is worth it, yes, it absolutely is. And there is diving for all skill levels. Book at least a few days for your best chance to see everything, as conditions and visibility change daily. We went in February, which is whale shark season, and the operators were booked up, so book in advance if you can. Can’t wait to come back! Thank you to Herbie and his crew for an A+ experience!
