Red Octopus Diving Center Unawatuna

Should be banned. The police and authorities should take action against these low lifes endanger divers as well as the marine life. When will tourist board and Sri Lanka Ban spear fishing this outfit have no licences for the guns and are in no way qualified divers. Goes against all values as an ethical tourist activity. It must be illegal to kill fish with guns. Prosecute them & close them down please.

3 friends paid for a dive with Red Octopus Diving Centre in early Feb 2017 We told them we would like a refresher before diving as we had only about 5 dives history each, over the last few years. However, after being kitted out with our gear, we were taken by boat to a reef area where we anchored. The refresher was about 30 seconds, in the boat, and consisted of 5 hand signals only......not what a PADI refresher should be !!!! 1 of our group got a little anxious when she rolled backwards out of the boat into the water and was asked to follow the anchor line to the bottom Had she been given a proper refresher, she would have been fine. I doubt this outfit is properly accredited with PADI as they were not nearly as professional as PADI and clients would expect We were very disappointed with the overall experience and as a result would definitely not recommend Red Ovtopus Diving to divers with limited experience !!!

One of the worst diving centers! Avoid this place. Hunting endangered species for fun and spearfishing. They have absolutely no awareness of marine life and the ecosystem or of protecting them. Rubbish Diving Center with no expert divers. They should be ashamed of themselves trophy hunting. Pics are up on FB of their activities. They should be shut down!!!
