Yesterday we went to the sandbank of Pemba with the assistance of Pemba Dive Center. We have traveled a lot, but we have rarely seen a place surrounded by such beautiful colors (all shades of blue, specially turquoise). We also did snorkeling and saw lots of colorful fish. But what will remain in our memories is how well arranged it was by its employees, particularly by Elias and Sufi. They were able turn a beautiful experience into a treasurable memory. Thank you. Maria and Gon.
Having not dived for over 15 years. I had lacked confidence diving again. Sufi @ Pemba Dive was the perfect Teacher for me. With over 1000 dives under his belt, he was very experienced in diving. Built my Confidence again with a Refresher/Reactivate Session in shallow water. And on the next day, we were on our way to 2 dives. I completed the 2 dives successful, with 18 metres as I did with my open water certificate 25 yrs ago. Excellent Teacher We stopped at the Beaitiful Sand Bank off the coast of Pemba as well, between the 2 dives. I highly recommend Sufi @ Pemba Dive located at Paradise Hotel.
I couldn’t have wished for a better diving experience. Diving in the clear warm waters and beautiful reefs off Pemba is known to be some of the best in the Indian Ocean and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Due to travel company warnings of potential political unrest on the Tanzanian mainland, (that didn’t materialise) caused some to cancel/postpone, meaning there were only a couple of us diving. So, instead of using the large rib boat, we used a small covered fibre glass boat, offering plenty of room for us, along with our two experienced dive guides and two crew, which also meant we were able to land on small isolated beaches for downtime between dives, eating fresh fruit and drinking hot tea. It’s on many of my friends bucket lists to dive off of Pemba Island - guys you need to come here. The water temperature of 27 degrees, viz at over 20m and the coral reefs are second to none, alive with so many different varieties and so many crazy fish. I’ve tried to capture some of the numerous reefs’ different species of marine life; but the photos and videos don’t really do the reefs justice… Two days of wonderful diving was absolutely priceless! Many thanks to my fantastic dive buddies/guides the fabulous Gee and the so knowledgeable Sufi for showing me the amazing underwater world around this wonderful Pemba Island. It was reassuring to know that the air cylinders used for the diving had all been recently refurbished, tested and re-sprayed by the professional ‘Ocean Workshop’ on Zanzibar, a company I know well, that provides and services dive equipment across the islands. We also stayed on site at the fantastic Pemba Paradise lodge, which was clean, tidy and a room with fantastic air conditioning … as for the food I could write so much on this alone - but all I will say is the restaurant has some of the best we’ve had in anywhere in Africa
