Since discovering Out of the Blue in Puerto Galera a couple of years ago, I try to return at least once a year and this time I went at Christmas, for the second time with my partner. We loved our stay there, especially the staff, who are always so friendly. And the menu in the Verandah is better than ever! This time we stayed in the one bedroom villa. It is huge and has fantastic views. That is now our favorite villa and we have already booked a return trip in May! Out of the Blue is our home away from home! Til next time! p.s. if you’re a fan of seafood, try their chilli crab! So delicious - but it's a special order and needs 1 day notice! ☺️

I was robbed while sleeping. ​I booked Out of the Blue for its convenience for diving with Action Divers and its positive reputation. Unfortunately, my stay ended with a serious security incident and a very disappointing response from the hotel. ​Transport & Accessibility ​The hotel is not easy to access if you have luggage. I was dropped off at Laguna and had to carry everything across the beach and up stairs. Despite asking in advance, the hotel did not offer to help organize transport. ​The Incident. ​On my last night, an intruder entered my room while I was sleeping. I woke up in the middle of the night to find my phone and some cash missing. My luggage had been opened and some items inside had been moved. - ​Locked Door: My door was locked. I still do not understand how they gained access to my room since there was no sign of forced entry. - ​Staff Reaction: When I informed the staff, they were dismissive, suggesting I was drunk or had brought someone to my room. Both things were false; I went to sleep early, alone, and completely sober. - ​CCTV Issues: When I requested CCTV footage, I was told the camera recording my corridor was not working. They also waited over an hour before attempting to call my local SIM card to help me locate the device. ​Management Follow-up ​I went to the police station myself to file a report. Only after I emailed the hotel contact address did they admit that they had also been robbed that night. They eventually sent me a CCTV screenshot of someone in the restaurant and a copy of the police report they filed. ​Despite the fact that the intruder accessed the inside of my room while I was asleep, the hotel stated their insurance will not cover my stolen property. Since only my room was targeted, I suspect someone knew I was a solo traveler and that it was my last day. ​Final Thoughts ​It is not my intention to damage the hotel's reputation, but I feel a responsibility to warn others. The convenience for diving is not worth the risk if the rooms are not secure and the staff is dismissive when a crime occurs. Answer to owner reply "was due to the guest being targeted by one or more people the guest had met while in and about the Puerto Galera area". This is pure speculation. I went to Sabang daily just to have dinner and didn't go out. I usually travel alone and I know the dos and donts. "A police report was filed immediately after the robbery occurred and a subsequent report prepared after" The theft occurred the 19th and your report is from the 22nd Disappointing is being robbed while sleeping with the risk of waking up during that. Disappointing is losing access to the world(gps, plane tickets, grab...) when you are away from home and loosing a significant amount of money (phone was not cheap). My money is also hard earned and I spent in your property and I had to buy a new mobile. My intention with this is: * Reinforcement of security. * CCTV fix. * Improve the reaction before accusing a customer of things that are not true. My reaction is mild taking into accoutn what happened. Answer to owner on Dec 27th "unlocked balcony door" You say this based on what? About the transport, you told me to get a tuktuk from the port when I asked if you arrange the transport. Is this a misunderstanding? Again, I don't want to do any harm. If I wanted I would have encouraged other people to post negative reviews and this has not happened.

We stayed at this resort for a week. We had the top vila. We had a fantastic time. The rooms were clean and spacious with great view of the ocean. The patio had comfortable chairs. Amazing view of the ocean, we got great sunrises and sunsets here. There are lot of stairs, it’s true, but it’s not that bad. We were there during off season so we were the only family for most of the week. Had 2 pools all to ourselves. Pools were great with views. Everything was clean and the staff went above and beyond. The power went out one time and the staff restored it within an hour or so. It felt quiet. Highly recommend this place. Plus, they have the Verandah restaurant and we really liked the food there.
