One of a kind amazing place, with true commitment to conservation. Worth the wait!

Feb 2026

This is a special place, and we decided to go to Misool for our 25th wedding anniversary. Misool doesn't need more outstanding reviews. The word has already gotten out, and it already has a multi-year waiting list. I had been told that it was one of the nicest places in the world, and despite having to wait a long time to get to see it in person, it did not disappoint. We are still glowing from our trip a month ago. Even if you are the type of person who likes to complain (and let's face it, there's a bit of that in all of us), they don't leave you much to complain about! They have thought about everything. 1. The place is WONDERFUL and somewhat remote. You have to get to Sorong (usually through Jakarta or Bali), and then it's a 5-hour private high-speed luxury boat ride from there. Due to that remoteness, it's: (a) right in the middle of wonderful, pristine reefs and walls that are just a 5-minute boat ride from the resort and (b) there is no trash in the reef and no other tourists -- you are by yourselves in this marine paradise. 2. The marine life is outstanding: different types of sharks including leopard/zebra sharks, rays (including mantas), all types of fish, of course. Crystal aquamarine water that is warm, clean, and refreshing. Tons of turtles and countless black-tipped sharks. Whether you're scuba diving, snorkeling or swimming, be prepared for a marine paradise. 3. The physical plant is gorgeous, eco-friendly, and luxurious. It's in an unbeatable location, surrounded by an aqua-green, pristine lagoon in the heart of marine-life-rich Raja Ampat. The buildings are a combination of eco-friendly and luxurious. There are fans and AC in every room with a big poster bed and mosquito net, nice appointments, outdoor showering area -- and spic and span clean. Each cottage has a good amount of space and privacy. A lovely deck off every room for relaxing and reading. The Hive (where there is good quality Internet via a satellite and is the only place where there is WiFi) is fantastic -- comfortable and very well-planned with comfy nooks for resting, private cubbies for you to store your stuff you don't want to carry back to your cottage and even places to take a nap, other areas on the big deck, living room type sitting areas for socialising, tables, etc. By the dive centre is a full-on separate cottage for storing and organising your photography equipment, as well as charging and maintaining your photo and video gear. The scuba/dive centre is amazingly organised, with each cottage having its own area. The equipment is high quality. We even tried the scooters (think James Bond-type motorised jets for being able to speed underwater) -- super fun and highly recommended. 4. The food was terrific. The current chef prepares unique, healthy, fresh food that isn't too heavy. I was expecting a lot of heavy sauces and deep-fried food, and I was pleasantly surprised that there was very little (or none) of that. There were four full-on meals (including 1st and 2nd breakfast) and one snack per day--no one is going to starve! The food was masterfully prepared, offering a wide range of choices for every course, an infusion of local flavours, and refreshing culinary blends. The wait staff was exceptional, knowing your name and preferences. 5. Finally, the staff is outstanding -- knowledgeable, committed to environmental concerns, extremely cordial and respectful, friendly, helpful, and going overboard to make sure your stay is as wonderful as possible. They seem to genuinely care about the place and have a personal attachment. Saying goodbye (about 100 people work there, supporting around 48 guests) at the end of the trip was sad. I hope we can return as soon as possible!

We visited Misool September 2024 and had an incredible week on this secluded island. From the pickup in Sorong until the drop off, everything was so well organized, which we did appreciate. From the first step on the island until we left, every second was top notch. The whole team of Misool is friendly, welcoming, smiling all the time and letting you feel like part of the family. The food was so various, healthy and we missed nothing. Really enjoyed the vegan and vegetarian choices a lot and liked every single meal. The diving and snorkeling trips were all great and but the house reef as well was one of a kind, with a varity of fish, turtles, sharks, squids etc. You could not ask for more. Of course the costs are not low but they are worth it and we will definitely come back! Thanks to the whole Misool team! Felix and Sandra
