I would highly recommend Meridian (MAD) for any diving enthusiasts. The rooms were more like a hotel than your typical dive resort so the stay was very comfy. The diving was done professionally with high speed boats to cut down on travel time, small dive groups and even all the dive gear was labelled for each diver (first time I've seen that). And of course, diving at Raja Ampat is great!

Our family of four stayed for a week and completed twelve dives each. From airport pickup to ferry transfer and port pickup (just five minutes to the resort), logistics were seamless. Rooms were comfortable with reliable air conditioning and hot water. The dive team—Ross, Simpson, Vanessa, and Julia—were friendly and attentive. When my goggles broke mid‑dive, Ross quickly assisted me to the surface, replaced them, and guided me back down. The staff welcome feedback and accommodate dive site requests, though they know the sites best—let them surprise you! We saw turtles, nudibranchs, diverse fish, blacktip sharks, and manta rays. We chose this resort for its fast, well‑balanced boats, which allowed access to sites other resorts couldn’t reach. Every dive was unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone seeking adventure, comfort, and world‑class diving.

If you’re looking for an easy landing pad in Raja Ampat, Meridian Adventure Dive Resort in Waisai makes a fine springboard for exploring one of the world’s most biodiverse marine regions. The operation runs with quiet precision. Aldo, who seems to orchestrate the front desk like a maestro, sets the tone — friendly, efficient, and unflappable. Meals are à la carte and well prepared, though breakfast could use a bit more imagination; the current offerings lean heavily on eggs and meat, and a small buffet would go a long way. The resort fields three dive boats, each powered by twin 250-horsepower engines, which makes reaching dive and snorkel sites quick work — when the weather cooperates. The crew is an engaging mix of local Papuans and dive guides from around the world, bringing both warmth and expertise to each outing. Rooms are compact — think ship’s cabin rather than suite — but surprisingly comfortable, with good air-conditioning, quiet nights, and decent showers stocked with quality soap. If there’s one wish-list item, it would be a complimentary transfer from the Waisai pier. The resort has a driver and even a boat that can make the five-minute hop, yet currently both come with a fee. We also met Chris, the manager, whose easy manner and openness made the stay feel personal. The immediate town of Waisai itself is more functional than charming — limited restaurants and shops, few tourist resources, and a general air of rough utility. Still, that’s the price of access to one of Earth’s last great underwater frontiers. Overall: recommended — especially as a launching point for your Raja Ampat adventures.
