If you are visiting Maui and thinking about snorkeling, I’d strongly recommend checking out Maui Snorkel Tours. Our family booked a 7:00 am tour which is ideal as we arrived before the parking lot was full and other snorkelers started arriving. After our tour guide Toby geared us up and introduced us to the fish we were going to see, we went out and toured the reefs, swimming in and around seeing all the exotic species living there. He pointed out and identified all the fish as they appeared. We saw an eel as it popped its head from the coral as well as two turtles that made a cameo appearance, swimming around us completely uninhibited by our presence. It truly felt like we were swimming in an exotic fish tank. And a great shout out to the owner Ed who took incredible pictures of us touring the reefs. The pictures were National Geographic quality and capture memories that my family will share for years.
So grateful for Maui Snorkel Tours! We had a private guide, Toby, who was super informative & helpful. They supplied the wetsuits, fins, masks & snorkels (which were thankfully really clean), educated us on the fish we would be seeing, …
We had an excellent shore snorkel tour at Ulua Beach with Toby as our guide. Toby was already in the parking lot when we arrived, fully prepared and ready to go. Before we entered the water, he explained the reef environment and the types of fish and wildlife we were likely to see, which added a lot of context to the experience. In the water, Toby’s knowledge of the Ulua Beach reef really stood out. He has an exceptional eye for spotting marine life and clearly knows where different species tend to be. He pointed out two octopus, several eels, and even found a juvenile Yellow Coris wrasse because he knew exactly where they typically hide on the reef. After the snorkel, we enjoyed good snacks while reviewing everything we had seen, which was a nice touch and helped wrap up the experience. We chose this tour even though we are very experienced snorkelers because my husband had injured his knee over the weekend and we wanted the added security of having a knowledgeable guide in the water with us. We did not end up needing assistance, but it was very reassuring to have someone there who knew the reef so well. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you want a guide who is prepared, observant, and truly knowledgeable about the local reef
