Marind Dive Eco Resort

We spent two wonderful weeks at Marind Dive Eco Resort in Tomia. The room was clean and spacious, with a very comfortable bed; the food was delicious. The large, beautiful garden added so much to the relaxed vibe. Marcel, the host, was exceptionally kind and welcoming—always reachable on WhatsApp and incredibly helpful. He arranged rides for us everywhere we went and acted as the perfect link between guests and the local community, offering great advice, coordinating transfers, and always having backup plans ready when needed. We loved every moment and wholeheartedly recommend Marind Dive Eco Resort. We’ll definitely return! ❤️

Excellent place to be based for diving and snorkeling around Tomia Island. The name is a little misleading as they don't actually have a dive centre or organise diving directly, but can help you get in touch with a couple of local operators. The bungalows are spacious and comfortable, with open air bathrooms and a large terrace. Would have appreciated a bean bag or a hammock for relaxing on the terrace when not diving, although the terrace is very hot when the sun is on it in the afternoon. The host Marcel is very helpful and does his best to help you with whatever you need. On the negative side, there are some minor maintenance issues that need to be addressed and Marcel seems to be proactive in doing that. It's a local Muslim island and the local mosques are especially vocal from the early morning. I am used to it so not too bothersome for me. The food is simple and delicious and of very high quality made by a woman who clearly loves to cook. Overall, a very comfortable and happy stay at this beautiful place. The diving and snorkeling are truly world class.

I could just end my review with one sentence: we booked three nights, we ended up staying eight (and not more just because it was fully booked). But let me go more in the details: Marind is your perfect base for exploring Tomia. Marcel, the owner, has thought of everything. He helped us commuting to the island, getting to his place, booking our activities (diving and snorkeling), renting a scooter, laundry, everything you need, he can help you. In the scorching sun of the afternoon, your bungalows will be the perfect chill place. Comfortable beds, air-conditioning, spacious bathroom with hot water, and, to top it off, a nice porch where you can relax. Don't even get me started on the food: mama Cantika is the Walter White of Indonesian cuisine. Like a professional chemist, she knows all the right combinations in the kitchen. Indonesian cuisine is great, mama Cantika's food is amazing. This is a place we would (and hopefully will) come back and stay longer to dive - eat - chill - repeat. Diving around Tomia is just like being in an aquarium. With more than 700 different species of (healthy) corals, you won't get enough of diving (or snorkelling) here. If we need to nitpick, the nearby mosques can wake you up in the morning, like in most places in Indonesia, so if you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs.
