The place to dive with thresher sharks. Lovely people, lots of options for food and lodging. ATMs available in the island.

My review is going to be a bit controversial, however I need to be honest here. Malapascua Island is an anomaly when it comes to the Philippines. I say this because the Philippine people are always smiling and very friendly. It’s the exact opposite here. There are no smiles, there are no hello’s, there is no friendly conversations that one would be used to in the Philippines. The island is known for Thresher Shark diving, and that is what I came here to do. So in essence my goal was achieved as I did witness many sharks at Kimud Shoal. Just know before hand, that diving is all there is to do on the island. While the beaches are beautiful, the surrounding areas on the island are dirty with lots of garbage strewn about. If you’re coming here for the Thresher Sharks, by all means visit. If not, there are far better options to visit. I would have given less stars if it wasn’t for the shark diving.
