Mabul Backpaker is a Gem Place for me. This is my second time here, stayed 6 days, but i still miss this place even im back. In this trip I tried to book a sea-view room before arriving but was told it was full. When i arrival, they surprised me with a sea-view room for 4 nights without extra charge. My advice to future visitors: you get what you pay for, so don’t come with unrealistic expectations. If you love adventure and diving, this is absolutely the right place and the instruction are enjoying n patience in diving . This time, I had fun diving with Tom, who is a caring and gentle person when you facing the problem for the diving. And another person who call Borhan which always full energy in no way …… The diving instructors here are very professional, and they share their passion and happy for diving as they explore unique marine life. You can truly feel their happiness—sometimes even more than yours—you can feel how they more happy than you what they found the unique marine. I love the way how they respect the sea animals, no torch no harm and during night dives they carefully remind divers not used torch directly at marine life. For those ppl without a PADI license, you can still try Discover Scuba Diving and trust me, it’s worth it. No harm to give you a chance to try coz you never know when you come back again visit this place anymore. Will miss this place and love the vibe here. Sometimes I really love this place when it’s not too crowded—it’s so chill and relaxing for me.

This place is truly special. Step outside and you can watch the sunrise on the left and the sunset on the right — something very rare, especially if you love sunrises and sunsets. The water right under the hostel is incredibly clear, and sometimes you can even see sea turtles swimming under the bridge. It’s a quiet and peaceful getaway, perfect for resting and recharging far from the city. If you like diving and discovering marine life, you should look for Tahir and Borhan. They’ve lived here for around 15 years and know the waters really well. Sometimes Tahir even takes you to see nudibranchs, lionfish, lobsters, frogfish, fimbriated moray eels, and more — it’s so fun to explore with him! They are patient, responsible, and kind. They won’t push you to buy packages — you only get recommendations if you ask for them. During their free time, they often play guitar, sing, or enjoy karaoke, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that makes this place feel like home. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a peaceful, unique, and memorable stay!

Staying at Mabul Backpackers was honestly the best part of my trip around Borneo! I was in Semporna and wasn’t sure whether to come just for one night… but it turned out to be the best decision ever. The island is absolutely stunning and feels like a real paradise, crystal clear water, beautiful views everywhere, and I ended up staying for two weeks! 💙 The vibes here are just amazing, super chill, fun and full of good energy. The atmosphere with everyone hanging out, playing guitar and singing together is something really special ✨ You can even see turtles and stingrays right from the common area, which still blows my mind! 🐢 The staff are incredible, they made me feel comfortable and welcome from the very first moment, always friendly and making sure everyone’s having a great time. It’s the perfect place whether you’re traveling solo or with friends. And the diving and snorkeling are unreal. The night dive it’s truly unforgettable!! 🌊💚
