I had my first-ever freediving experience today with Sam at the Lombok Free Diving School, where I joined the one-day discovery course. It was an amazing introduction to the sport and far exceeded my expectations. What I appreciated most was Sam’s approach to teaching. He is an incredibly attentive instructor who clearly cares about the pedagogical side of the sport. He explains things patiently, makes sure everyone understands, and allows each person to progress at their own pace. I always felt supported and never rushed. The day started in a very unique and personal way: we made coffee together in his kitchen and had the theory session in his living room. It felt very homey and relaxed, which created a great atmosphere for learning and asking questions. After the theory, we drove to the beach and took a boat out to the dive spot, where we put the exercises into practice in the water. At every moment I felt safe with Sam. His calm presence and clear guidance made the experience both comfortable and exciting. Another thing I loved is that Sam clearly knows the area and the community very well. On the way he pointed out different restaurants and local spots he recommends, which was a nice personal touch. After the training we even went snorkeling and saw so many fish — it was a perfect way to end the day. Sam treats everyone around him with kindness and genuine care, and it really shows in the way the whole experience unfolds. I had a lot of fun, learned a lot in just one day, and would absolutely recommend this course to anyone curious about freediving.

I just finished my Molchanov wave 1 with Sam at Lombok Freediving, and what an incredible experience, the school totally exceeded my expectations. The theory is all very clear and he teaches so passionately, we dive in beautiful spots & the progress over my time with him was amazing. I was a beginner very keen on free diving but since meeting Sami, I’m intermediate & PUMPED for more. The safety he provides really gives you a feeling of ease, his technique is very specific so I feel like I an a MUCH better diver than when I first met him & he makes sure you feel fully confident in what he is teaching. Go dive with Sami, you won’t regret it!!

Choosing Sam as my first freediving instructor was truly the best decision! 🌟 He’s genuine, thoughtful, and deeply passionate about both teaching and life. The positive learning environment made it so much easier to progress. I’ve always been afraid of drowning, yet at the same time wanted to overcome that fear — and thanks to Sam, I can honestly say I’m no longer as scared of the ocean as before. 🩵 If you’re thinking about trying freediving, you definitely won’t regret coming here!!! 🔥💖
