This boat tour takes you about 6 miles strait out into the ocean to view the reef, and then back. If you are looking for a cruise that hugs the coastline or travels to multiple areas, this is not the tour to choose. The tour time is 90% travel, 10% reef viewing. Staff was enjoyable. Boat has limited outdoor seating, but standing anywhere was permitted. Beverages and snacks available and yes, there is a bathroom.
We had a great tour with Captain Russ. He has deep appreciation for the beauty of the Keys. We booked an Everglade sunset tour. After launch he stated that we wouldn’t actually be IN the everglades due to restrictions? Regardless, we had a fantastic sunset tour of the area. We were able to watch manatees from a respectable distance. The mangroves, “Bird Island”, some explanations of the ecosystem and history made it interesting. We lucked up with a gorgeous sunset and had a great tour!
A great experience to witness the great reef of the keys and the only reef in the usa. It was an amazing tour totaling 1:30 mins. It took 45 mins to reach the reef area. They had an upper and lower deck. The upper deck was good and we had a great time observing the ocean and the lower deck had a see through glass bottom for us to see the reef and marine life. The guide was amazing and explained us about the history and marine life. They had a small snack area for purchase on the upper deck. Overall a great experience observing the reef and I suggest for people to take appropriate nausea medication if you are not familiar with boat rides.
