In the competitive world of whale watching and ocean safaris, Captain Dylan Currier truly stands out. From the moment we stepped aboard, his infectious positivity and genuine love for the ocean set the tone for an unforgettable experience, one that was engaging for all ages. I brought my 4-year-old, and even during a slower morning for wildlife sightings, Dylan turned the day into a meaningful lesson in ocean stewardship. We collected styrofoam and bottles from the water and explored the living creatures that had made these items their home. At one point, we even freed a triggerfish that was trapped, my son got to see the fish up close and understand the real damage marine debris can cause. It was powerful, age-appropriate, and memorable. We saw Humpback and Pilot whales, spinning and bottle nose dolphins, trigger and needle fish, spotted eagle ray, ocean birds, and ocean crustaceans on the floating debris. So much between 7 and 12. Dylan was constantly monitoring the radio for wildlife sightings and was quick to safely navigate his 24-foot center console to areas where dolphins and whales had been spotted. When we encountered whales and dolphins, safety and a true “do no harm” ethic were clearly paramount, we were close but not too close to the whales. Dylan carefully observed animal behavior and ensured we were well briefed before entering the water. Snorkeling head-on with pilot whales was incredible, and having an in-water safety swimmer added an extra layer of confidence, when swimming with pilot whales and especially with the presence of curious white-tipped oceanic sharks. Water and snacks were included, keeping everyone hydrated and energized throughout the morning. This was more than a tour, it was an educational, respectful, and awe-inspiring ocean experience. Highly recommend See Through Sea and Captain Dylan Currier for families and anyone who wants to experience marine life the right way.
Super cool experience with Dylan and Lauren. Very flexible and ask for your input and will do their best to get you to see the animals you really want to see. Love the way the tour operates as most tours are very structured and stick to one …
I truly can’t recommend Dylan and Deep Water Hawaii enough! While manta swims are widely known in Hawaii, ocean safaris feel like a hidden gem, an unforgettable bucket list experience for both visitors and locals. The diversity of marine life you can encounter on these trips is nothing short of breathtaking, from multiple species of whales and dolphins to sharks and more. On my most recent trip with DWH, we were lucky enough to see sperm whales, pilot whales, kiko dolphins, humpbacks, and even a Cuvier’s beaked whale…..an incredible lineup for a single day! The ocean seemed especially generous, and the animals were so curious, creating memories I’ll carry with me forever. Dylan is incredibly warm and welcoming, and his passion for the ocean is obvious in everything he does. He shares fascinating insights about each species throughout the day and approaches every encounter with deep respect for the wildlife, all while creating space for truly extraordinary experiences. I’ve also been on tours with Timmy and Lauren as guides, and they are every bit as warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable as you’d hope from this company. It’s clear that the entire team shares the same passion, respect for wildlife, and commitment to creating meaningful experiences. Of course, this is wildlife and nothing is ever guaranteed, but if you don’t go, you’ll never know what you might find. Whether you live here or are just visiting, these tours are an absolute must.
