I have always been a world traveler since being a teenager. Almost all the items on my bucket list are to do with travel but one I recently crossed off in Cancun, Mexico. I've always wanted to swim with Whale Sharks & thanks to the team @ …
We went on a private whale shark tour with DC Explorer 2 days ago and had the most amazing experience! We had Nano and Chalo as our guide and captain and they were so friendly and enthusiastic and great to be around. It was 2 days after a full moon so Nano explained there was a good chance there would be whale sharks feeding near the surface! Sure enough, after about a 45-60 min boat ride from Cancun, they spotted them! There were so many whale sharks they were everywhere you looked, we couldn’t believe it! As it was a private tour, we got to spend as long in the water as we could swimming alongside at least 4-5 different whale sharks. Every time you couldn’t swim fast enough to keep up with one another appeared! After 30 mins swimming in the water with Nano with him making sure didn’t miss anything and taking pictures and videos, our captain said he’d heard there was a manta ray with another group. He was very skilled and drove us over to where it was sighted and we jumped in again and got to see the most incredible sight of my life- a manta ray swimming alongside a whale shark 🥹🥹 it was truly magical! We’ve never been on a private tour before and it is expensive, but having this much time and the opportunity to swim with a manta ray as well was so so worth it! After this we had some sandwiches on the boat and then moored near Isla Mujeres and Chalo made us delicious guacamole and ceviche! We had asked DC Explorer if we could be dropped off in Isla Mujeres from Cancun as we were staying there a few days and they dropped us off with our suitcases near our hostel. Honestly couldn’t have had a better experience, and we will remember this always!! Thank you so much!
