Incredible support from DAN Southern Africa! I had a serious scuba accident in September 2024 and broke my ankle as I was exiting the water. It turned out to be an open trimalleolar fracture with additional injuries to my cartilage and ligaments. A friend contacted DAN while I was on my way to hospital, and they stepped in immediately to help. They covered all the medical bills my medical aid didn’t, and even contributed toward replacing some of my damaged dive gear. Laurel, my main contact at DAN, was amazing! She followed up regularly, made sure everything was sorted, and showed genuine care throughout my recovery. Aside from the accident, DAN is a huge part of the diving community in Cape Town. Their free public talks are incredibly informative and open to everyone, not just members. I’ve learnt so much from presentations facilitated by DAN! I can’t recommend DAN enough. If you dive, you need to be with DAN.
