You should come to the island with the intention to snorkel or dive, otherwise there isn't much to do. The facilities aren't very tourist-friendly, but at least the people are warm. They have regulated everything in the island, and it's especially good when they're out to make sure that tourists doesn't do anything irresponsible. They're strict with the rule of having 1 guide for every two people who will dive. I felt safe the entire time, and I got to see a lot of sea turtles as well.
We recently visited Apo Island and had an amazing experience. The breakfast and lunch served were delicious and satisfying, with a great variety of local dishes. The local guides were extremely respectful and friendly, and they took us to the best spots for snorkeling with sea turtles and clown fishes. The beauty of the island is truly breathtaking and I found myself wanting to stay longer. I highly recommend Apo Island to anyone looking for a peaceful and adventurous getaway.
The island has lots to offer even if you are just snorkeling. I am sure it's fantastic if you dive. Just snorkeling, I saw lots of turtles and a sea snake - don't touch either. The corals are amazing and even if your not a strong swimmer they two you. Have to say it was almost untouched in 1998, but is a bit crowded now. Still worth a visit
