Amity Diving Club - Khao Lak

I went diving with you three days ago and I have been waiting your feedback before posting this review, but given you do not answer and netiher collaborate, I do not have another option but review at least to help other customers. Unfortunately, I was not satisfied with the overall experience, particularly with the guide’s attitude and level of professionalism during both dives. While he was friendly and smiling, I felt his conduct underwater and during the briefings did not meet the standard I would expect for a guided dive. The first dive was especially stressful. I even considered canceling the second dive because of how uncomfortable I felt after the first one. I am not a professional diver, but I have completed more than 50 dives around the world, including in challenging locations such as Fuvahmulah with strong currents, and I have never had an experience like this. Compared to my previous dives in places such as the Maldives, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Panama, the difference in organization and guiding was significant. The pre-dive briefing was extremely short and lacked essential information. There was no mention of what marine life we might see, potential risks, dive plan details, or information about currents. At one point, the guide said something along the lines of, “Pay attention to your own air, because I’m not doing it for you.” As the group leader and professional guide, I believe he should be actively monitoring the group and supporting divers, especially considering that we are paying customers (almost €200 for two dives). This comment felt unprofessional and inappropriate. During the dives, he did not point out marine life or show us anything of interest. For most of the time, he swam ahead on his own without checking on the group. At certain moments, he even swam against the current without clear purpose or communication. Only near the end did he ask about our remaining air, apparently just to manage the safety stop and ascent. After the experience, I sent several messages to the dive center,specially wondering to get in touch with the director of the dive center, to share these concerns, but I have not received any response. This lack of follow-up has been disappointing and gives the impression that customer care and post-dive feedback are not a priority. From a client’s perspective, it feels as though the focus is more on volume of sales than on the quality of the experience and service provided. Given the circumstances, I believe it would be reasonable to request a partial refund. The services provided were significantly below what would normally be expected from a professional guided diving experience. The first dive was frankly very poor and stressful, and while the second dive was acceptable, it was nothing remarkable. Overall, this was the least professional guide I have encountered in all of my diving experiences to date. I am sharing this feedback because I believe in constructive communication and hope it helps you improve the experience for future divers. I would genuinely appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

We had a great week on the MV Koon 9. The crew is very professional, organised, extremely helpful and friendly despite their massive workload during day and night. After a few days you become friends with most of the crew and other guests. It is like a liveaboard family. There is always additional equipment, if needed and they care about everything: cylinders are always filled up without further ado (nothing to carry, mount, replace etc), warm towels are ready after the dives, local drinks are served and fresh food is cooked. I would like to especially mention the professionalism, support and friendliness of my dive instructor Aoy! She is an absolute topshot, has a solution for every situation and always stays calm and enthusiastic. Thanks again for everything.

Aoy was our diving master. She is amazing, kind, patient, a wonderful person. When talking with other clients on our live aboard trip, we came out on top. Aoy should be the standard all dive masters should be held to.
