A surprise swim break we’ll never forget. Vacationing in Portugal was an absolute highlight for us, and visiting the famous Benagil Caves was the crown jewel of our trip. We booked a Wednesday afternoon tour with Algarve Discovery, and after a short 30‑minute wait, we headed out toward the caves. Our crew, Andres and Timothy, were exceptional — incredibly accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their professionalism and warmth set the tone for the entire experience. One of the most memorable moments came when the tour paused for a quick swim break. My thrill‑seeker husband was the only one brave enough to dive into the 70°F water. He stayed in for about ten minutes before surfacing shivering, exhilarated, and proudly calling the icy dip “invigorating.” It was hilarious, completely unexpected, and one of those moments we’ll be laughing about for years. The tour itself was spectacular. Not only do you get to step inside the iconic Benagil Cave, but you also cruise along the dramatic Algarve coastline, taking in cliffs, hidden beaches, and the region’s natural beauty. Benagil Cave truly lives up to its reputation — the small opening at the top frames the sky perfectly, letting sunbeams pour in and illuminate the golden sand and turquoise water. It feels almost unearthly. If you’re visiting the Algarve, this tour is absolutely worth it. The scenery is breathtaking, and the crew’s hospitality elevates the entire experience. 022426
