Just my style, easy going, total full service resort. Roberto and Chocolate provided great, fun filled outings to the reef and to shopping in town. The nicest guides we have ever had the pleasure to adventure with.
Wow what a great experience! James and Glenn took us out to the Mexican rocks and we had a wonderful, amazing, magical time. I struggled with my mask a few times, and Glenn was quick to help me and support me while I fixed my mask. Glenn …
My family of 9 spent 10 days at La Perla in June of 2023 and used Roberto & crew exclusively for diving, snorkeling, mainland tours (2), and water taxis. I don't know exactly how much we spent with him but it was into the mid-thousands. We weren't a "1-and-done" with him. We have also traveled, snorkeled, and scuba dived quite a bit so we are experienced. Here is my review: Positives: 1) Always on time. These guys are punctual and you can count on them. 2) Friendly yet professional. Just a joy and pleasure to be around. They are not going to ogle your teenage daughter or flirt with your hot wife (I have both!). 3) The equipment he has was solid and worked well. 4) Knowledgeable. They knew all of the local San Pedro places we should go and not go and advised us accordingly. 5) They worked with us on where best (and new) to go snorkeling since we went several times. They wanted to take us to Hol Chan once but since we had already been there and the place was nuts (17 boats), we chose instead to go to a place by Mexico Rocks (closer, better). 6) Personalized service. When you book a snorkel/dive trip or a mainland tour through Roberto, you get people who work for him and they were phenomenal, providing us with history, color, and service to the areas we visited (especially our mainland tours). For example, on our way to cave tubing, on the advice of our guide, we stopped in Belize City at a bakery for coffee and pastries that were awesome! I am not sure you get that with a larger tour company. Negatives: 1) It is tough to do a tour on the mainland from San Pedro unless you fly and that was cost prohibitive for 9 people. This was NOT Roberto's fault...I just wish he would have told us when we were booking a month prior it is a LOT of time in transit and a VERY (5 am) early start when you are on vacation. 2) He helped guide us a bit on when to do which tours, but I wish he had been more forceful. For example, you do NOT want to do the cave tubing during most of the week - the cruise ships swarm the place. Our guide said he took a honeymoon couple on the Sunday prior and had the entire river to themselves for most of the tubing. So...do your homework (I wish we would have). Overall, we wouldn't hesitate to use Roberto and crew again. They are a small outfit and what you sacrifice in boat comfort is more than made up for with flexibility and personalized service. The only caveat is...do your research and what is feasible to do from San Pedro before you book because there are no refunds. (Would have added more pics but they are all in HEIC, which Google doesn't like apparently).
